But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on.

Mothers of the Bride to Premiere at Pear Theatre this August!

I’m thrilled to announce that Pear Theatre’s 20th season will open with the World Premiere of my full length comedy, MOTHERS OF THE BRIDE! The play celebrates families of all shapes and sizes with a special focus on their matriarchs while utilizing a comedic lens to explore marriage, motherhood, and gender roles. The show will be presented as a hybrid – part live, part filmed. So you can watch from anywhere!

From the press release: “The play, about a bride-to-be who must manage the affections of both her mother and her stepmother while planning the wedding, began as a 10-minute piece receiving widespread acclaim in the 2019 Pear Slices, was developed into a full-length piece with input from other members of the Pear Playwrights Guild, and fine-tuned with audience input after being presented as a staged reading in that year’s Fresh Produce Festival. Now ready to see a fully staged production, Mothers of the Bride celebrates the talent of a Bay Area playwright as well as our own ability to choose our family.”

A big thanks to the Pear Playwright Guild for imparting their wisdom on me and to the Pear Theatre team for their continued support and encouragement. Also thanks to Matthew Fyffe for providing feedback on a a seemingly infinite number of drafts. And thanks to Stephanie Whigham for creating this fantastic poster!

After fifteen years of writing (filled with its fair share of bumps, detours, twists, and bends), I am so excited to share my work with you. More to come!
